Our Story
Kelo was founded by partners Holly and Piers, two people who have always felt most at home outdoors. Whether surfing, kayaking, skiing, trail running or hiking, they spend as much of their free time as possible exploring the places they love.
Over the years, countless adventures have meant buying, testing, repairing, selling and relying on specialist outdoor gear. Through those experiences, they came to appreciate not only how important the right equipment is for performance and safety, but also how expensive it can be to get started or keep up with a new sport.
The idea for Kelo came from a challenge they experienced themselves: finding quality second-hand outdoor gear shouldn't be so difficult. While there were plenty of general marketplaces, there wasn't one dedicated to outdoor sports where people could confidently buy and sell specialist equipment from others who understood it.
So they built one.
Kelo is a marketplace created exclusively for outdoor sports gear, making it simple to buy and sell quality pre-loved equipment. By keeping existing gear in use for longer, we're helping reduce waste, make outdoor sports more affordable, and lessen the demand for new products.
But Kelo is about more than just buying and selling gear.
Choosing the right equipment can be confusing, particularly if you're new to a sport. That's why we created the Gear Guru service — free, independent advice from people who genuinely understand outdoor equipment. Whether you're buying your first surfboard or upgrading your trail running pack, we're here to help you make the right choice for your adventure and your budget.
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the outdoors, regardless of experience or budget. Whether you're a surfer, climber, paddler, runner, skier, cyclist or hiker, Kelo exists to make quality gear more accessible while building a community that shares knowledge, inspires adventure and looks after the places we all enjoy.
Our vision is simple: to become the home of second-hand outdoor gear, where every piece of equipment gets the longest life possible and every adventure leaves a lighter footprint.

Holly Blower
Co-Founder
There are not many people more enthusiastic about the environment and protecting it as Holly. She has a masters in Ecology and Conservation and has worked in the sustainability sector for the last 2 years. However her real passion is basking on a sunny beach, surfing from dawn till dusk. Even though she is definitely a warm climate creature she will tolerate the cold to shred powder all day long. From sea to mountains you will find Holly out there getting the goods.
Piers Oliphant
Co-Founder
Piers has always had that thirst for adventure. This has predominantly been as a whitewater kayaker, where his adventures have stretched across the globe hunting untamed rivers, including a few first descents deep in the Bornean jungle. Recently his focus has switched river waves for sea waves and deep river descents for deep powder descents. If it means getting outside, Piers will be there. He has also more recently dabbled in some entrepreneurial projects hence it makes perfect sense for this next adventure.
